Remarks

As with any occult blood test, the results of the Gastroccult test cannot be considered conclusive evidence of the presence or absence of upper gastrointestinal bleeding or pathology. Incompletely cooked foods or raw fruits and vegetables which have peroxidase activity may produce a positive Gastroccult test result.
