Interpretive Data
Studies have shown thata D-Dimer result of less than or equal to 0.50 ug/mL {FEU} has a negative predictive value (cutoff) of approximately 95% for excluding PE and DVT.
D-Dimer is useful for excluding the diagnosis of venous thromboembolism when results are combined with clinical information including pretest disease probability. Use of age adjusted Dimer cutoff with probability assessment can be used to rule out suspected PE in emergency department patients and is associated with low likelihood of subsequent syptomatic VTE.
