Special Testing Notes

Type and screen specimen can be drawn 7 days prior to transfusion UNLESS: Patient has been pregnant or transfused with blood or blood component(s) containing red cells within the preceding three months, or if transfusion history is unknown/uncertain. In these cases the specimen must be drawn 3 days prior to transfusion.
