Collect
Body fluid in a clean glass or plastic container with secure lid. Pleural or Peritoneal Fluid
Pediatric Requirements
0.2 mL body fluid at 20-25 C.
Storage/Transport Temperature
1 mL body fluid at Ambient (room temperature) temperature. (Min: 0.5 mL) Do not freeze.
Stability (from collection to initiation)
Ambient (room temperature): 8 hours; Refrigerated: 3 days; Frozen (-20o C) Stability: Do Not Freeze
Unacceptable Conditions
Frozen or hemolyzed specimens or those using EDTA, potassium oxalate or sodium fluoride as anticoagulants.

Specify source of fluid.
